SPAR Ambassador Kellie Harrington and fellow Olympian Gary O’Donovan have joined forces to launch the new SPAR Better Choices campaign for 2023.
According to the convenience retailer, the aim of the campaign is to encourage customers to make ‘Better Choices’ when shopping across the SPAR retail network.
Commenting, Colin Donnelly, sales director, SPAR, said, “The SPAR Better Choices initiative gives customers guidance on choosing the best foods for their lifestyle while on the move.”
SPAR Better Choices Champion
The campaign features the two champions taking each other on in a fun set of challenges, to see who will be crowned the ‘SPAR Better Choices Champion’.
To launch this initiative, SPAR has partnered with dietitian Dr Yvonne Finnegan, and there is an educational element to the campaign, with text appearing on screen to educate viewers on the nutritional values of the foods used by the Olympians in the challenges.
‘The fun facts in the videos help build confidence in the mind of the consumer when it comes to making better choices when shopping in their local SPAR,’ it added.
“In conjunction with approved dietitians, we have been adding to our list over the years, to ensure we are constantly bringing new and innovative products to SPAR shoppers, which is emphasised through this campaign,” Donnelly added.
In-store snacks that fall under the SPAR Better Choices initiative include fresh fruit, popcorn, rice cakes, nuts and seeds, while SPAR stores provide meal solutions through high-protein meats, fresh vegetables, chilled soups, and high-fibre bakery products.
SPAR highlighted that its stores also stock an extensive range of grab-and-go drinks, from vitamin waters to protein milk and more, while many stores offer SPAR customers better choices through self-serve salad bars and grab-and-go salad bowls from the chilled cabinet.
