Tesco Finest Steaks Take Home Taste And Quality Awards

Tesco Ireland recently launched two West Cork Dry Aged Angus Rib Eye and Sirloin Steaks, which were available across a selection of 36 stores for the June bank holiday weekend.

These prime steaks were among four Tesco-certified Irish Angus steaks that were awarded international Taste and Quality Institute Superior Taste awards in Brussels in May.

Dry ageing is a globally renowned technique to enhance the flavour and tenderness of steak, and is especially popular with only the best restaurants around the world.

Sourced From West Cork

The Tesco-certified Irish Angus steaks have been specially sourced from West Cork and are carefully dry aged in traditional dry ageing chambers and matured for 30 days. Tesco Ireland, in partnership with ABP, was a quadruple winner at this year’s International Taste and Quality Institute Superior Taste Awards for four of its prime Irish Angus beef steaks.

Working in partnership with ABP, Tesco Ireland received two accolades – 3 Golden Star awards for its West Cork Aged Angus Rib Eye Steaks and its finest Irish Angus Rib Eye Steak, while its West Cork Dry Aged Angus Striploin Steaks and finest Irish Angus Striploin Steaks were awarded Remarkable accreditation or 2 Golden Star awards.

Blind Tasting Experience

Products are evaluated on a strictly blind tasting experience, with no packaging or identification, and are prepared, heated or cooked according to producer's instructions and presented as if they were served at home. “We are delighted to have received such esteemed accreditation for our certified Irish Angus steaks,” said Sheila Gallagher, commercial director, Tesco Ireland.

“At Tesco, we have a long standing commitment to continuously offer the very best of certified Irish Angus beef that our customers know and love and this international award gives us an even greater endorsement of our quality commitment."

"West Cork's reputation for producing some of the country's finest food is one of the reasons why we have exclusively sourced our new Tesco finest dry aged steaks from the area. Its mild climate and coastal location provide just the right conditions for producing the perfect steak. We are looking forward to customer feedback following the launch of these products in 36 of our stores across the country.”
