Tesco Puts Temporary Delay On New Aldi Store Opening

Tesco has lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála relating to the decision by Dublin City Council to give developer Dunmull the go-ahead to open a new Aldi store on the Malahide Road, Dublin.

Tesco which operates a 24 hour store at Clare Hall said in its appeal that it supports the principle of additional competitive retail floorspace in the shopping centre but it is concerned that the issues raised “do not appear to have been adequately considered by the planning authority in their assessment,” reported Irishexaminer.ie

Reportedly, in 2015, An Bord Pleanála refused plans for an Aldi store following a successful appeal by Tesco.
