Texaco Fuel Card Business Taken Over By Fuelplus

The fuel card business operated by Valero Energy Ireland Limited at its Texaco operations in Ireland and Northern Ireland has been taken over by Fuelplus, part of the UK-based Radius Group.

The deal was cleared by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission today (30 March).

The Radius Group is a UK-based fuel card service provider operating in eleven countries across Europe, including the State.

In a statement, the Commission said, "The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has today cleared the proposed transaction whereby Fuelplus Ireland Limited would acquire sole control of certain assets of Valero Energy Ireland Limited. The proposed transaction was notified under the Competition Act 2002 (as amended) on 13 February 2015.

"The Commission has formed the view that the proposed transaction will not substantially lessen competition in any market for goods or services in the State."
