Uniplumo Secures Deal With Tesco

Swords-based poinsettia grower Uniplumo has signed a deal with Tesco Ireland to stock a festive range of plants. Along with Irish poinsettias, festive floral baskets and luxury Irish wreaths, Uniplumo will be supplying a special limited edition Kalanchoe Tisento plant from this weekend at a cost of €3.99 with €0.50 from each purchase going directly to Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Commenting about the announcement, Tom Summerville, General Manager Uniplumo said “Our relationship with Tesco has strengthened over the past 17 years with increased orders this year particularly for our festive range of Bord Bia quality assured Irish grown poinsettias, luxury wreaths and floral gifts.

“Our business has grown over the course of this relationship and this year we invested over €500,000 in a new 4,300m2 glass house to accommodate increased orders from Tesco. This is my favourite time of the year seeing the acres of hand grown poinsettias in our glass houses ready to be shipped off to homes across Ireland.” Tesco Ireland plant buyer Joe Casey added: “Poinsettias make a perfect gift for Christmas house visits, they are said to symbolise good cheer and to bring wishes of goodwill and celebration. This year we will be stocking Irish grown poinsettias in our 147 stores across Ireland and we hope that poinsettia fans also pick up a limited edition Christmas Kalanchoe to raise funds for our charity partner Temple Street to help them to continue to deliver vital services to seriously ill children.”
