Veronica’s Snacks launches low-fat ‘Crunchy Creatures’ for kids

Veronica’s Snacks, the Cork company behind the eponymous range of lower fat, gluten-free baked crisps, is launching a new range of organic cheese corn snacks under the ‘Crunchy Creatures’ label in Ireland and the UK.

The Irish company is hoping that its new dinosaur-shaped corn snack scan fill a gap in the lunchbox market for lower fat snacks and crisps.

Tyrano, a T-Rex cartoon character, is the face of the ‘Crunchy Creatures’ baked cheese snacks, with more characters and flavours to follow later in the year in a range that will contain 40% less fat in them than competing cheese corn snack brands, according to managing director Veronica Kenneally.

“Retailers and hospitality providers are looking for healthier alternatives to put on shelves and on menus,” she said.

“‘Crunchy Creatures’ are helping to fill the gap in this market as they are lower in fat, with no trans fats and with fewer calories than regular cheese corn snacks. It’s a healthier option for parents and children alike and a growing category for retailers.”

The new range will go on sale this week in Spar, Mace, SuperValu and independent health food shops around the country.
