This is the first year that Boots has sponsored the Pride Parade in Dublin, with staff taking part on the day itself, participating in in-house training programmes ahead of Pride month and adding significant branding to flagship stores in Dublin and Cork. Arthur Gourounlian, ambassador, Boots, commented, “I am so delighted to be leading Boots colleagues in the Pride parade today. The passion and enthusiasm is palpable and it’s a very special day to be part of”.

The food retail sector in Spain should see approximately 780 new store openings this year, according to a report published by industry representative group ASEDAS. The sector saw the opening of 878 new stores in 2022, compared to 1,070 the previous year and 854 in 2020. According to the report, which was prepared by Retail Data, some 251 new stores were opened in the period January to May 2023.

French supermarket retailer Carrefour said on Monday that it could cut a maximum of up to 979 positions in France on a voluntary basis, as part of a broader restructuring, reports Reuters. The planned job cuts, which had first been reported by Agence France Presse, are currently being negotiated with trade union representatives, the company said.

Finnish dairy firm Valio has announced the appointment of Ulf Jahnsson as VP, Primary Production and Milk Procurement, effective 1 August 2023. In his role, Jahnsson will report to Valio executive board member Elli Siltala, who is responsible for Valio's core businesses and brand, reports ESMmagazine.com.
