Revenue Seizes Alcohol And Tobacco Products Worth Almost €90,000 In Dublin Port

On Friday evening (15 February) Revenue officers seized 98,000 cigarettes, over 4kgs of tobacco and 2,950 litres of alcohol in Dublin Port.

The seized alcohol and tobacco products reportedly have a combined retail value of €89,600, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €62,500.

According to the Government body, the alcohol and cigarettes were discovered when officers stopped and searched a foreign-registered bus and van that had disembarked a ferry from Holyhead.

The products were concealed within numerous packages being transported in the bus and van, it said.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal alcohol and tobacco products in the 'shadow economy'.
