CBE, Ireland’s largest supplier of retail IT systems, is launching a new labelling process called Scale to Sale to enable retailers, deli managers and butchers to comply with new legislation surrounding allergens, ingredients and country of origin.
Current labelling rules will be abolished from 13 December onwards. They will be replaced by the Food Information to Consumers legislation (Regulation 1169/2011/EU) which states that all foods must indicate the presence of allergens and all ingredients must now be listed on pre packaged foodstuffs.
Scale to Sale uses a ‘linerless’ label with limitless space to display information for each PLU so that all allergen and ingredient text can be inputted and amended directly.
Sean Kenna, CBE’s MD, said “With more and more legislation coming on board, deli managers will have to implement systems that will enable them to comply with future directives. Thankfully, CBE’s Scale to Sale technology will allow them to do this and, more importantly, allow them to do it in a clear and simple way.”
