Aldi’s Gin Triumphs At International Awards

Aldi’s Old Hopking Special Dry London Gin has received an award at the 2013 International Spirits Challenge.
The gin, which retails at €12.99 per 70cl bottle excelled in a blind taste test to beat a number of big name brands.
The panel of six judges, made up of selected master distillers, blenders, specialist writers and prominent industry figures, sampled 70 gins as part of the test.Awarding Aldi’s Old Hopking Special Dry London Gin with a silver medal the panel described it as having a ‘ripe, citrus aroma with rounded spice and a touch of juniper’.
Commenting on the win, Niall O’Connor, Aldi’s Group Buying Director said, “We’re delighted that our commitment to quality has been recognised by such a prestigious group as the International Spirits Challenge.
