DIA Capitalises On Emerging Market Growth

Brazil and Argentina were the two strongest markets for Spanish retailer DIA in Q3 2012, posting growth of 24% and 39% respectively, as its sales for the period rose 6.4% to €2.98 billion.

In the Iberian peninsula, where DIA operates the majority of its stores, sales grew by 4.6% to €1.49 billion in the quarter, with like-for-like sales growth of 1.1%.

Convenience stores will form part of the group’s focus for next year, with CEO Ricardo Currás saying “we want to continue to grow with complementary formats to be ever-closer to consumers, as reflected in our latest decisions.”
