Convenience food giant Greencore has announced plans to develop a new €23.8 million sandwich manufacturing facility in Quonset, Rhode Island, USA as it targets the New York market.
The Dublin-headquartered group plans to close its existing factories in Newburyport and Brocton, both in Massachusetts between April and September 2015.
The company has promised existing employees the opportunity of jobs in the new facility, which is to employ 370 people when it is due to open in Spring 2015.
Commenting on the investment of the 100,000 square feet facility, Greencore chief executive Patrick Coveney said, “This investment will significantly enhance our capability and capacity to serve the sandwich market in the North Eastern region of the US […] to drive further growth with current customers.”
