Minister Ring Opens Food & Hospitality Ireland Event At RDS

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD opened the Food & Hospitality Ireland 2013 in the RDS earlier today, saying the "synergy between the food and hospitality sectors plays a pivotal role in getting our economy back on track.“

Ring noted that the event was well timed as it "reflects the unparalleled growth in our food and drinks industry." He said that the "commitment and pride" of the exhibitors present and the wider industry in developing a sophisticated Irish food industry "play a pivotal role in enabling our economy to get back on track."

The Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards and the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland’s Annual awards were also being celebrated at Food and Hospitality Ireland 2013 and the Minister wished all participants in these competitions the very best of luck.

“Last year was the most successful year ever for Irish food and drink exports, which is proof of the quality of the product Ireland has to offer," the Minister added. "The food sector has shown it has the potential to be one of our country’s strongest assets. What is important now is to build on and consolidate this performance and “future proof” it for the generations following."
