Nestle Reports 11% Increase In Third Quarter Sales

Swiss food and drink giant Nestle has posted an 11% increase in sales for the first nine months of 2012. Supported by strong growth in emerging markets, sales rose at the company to 67.6 billion Swiss Francs for the nine months to September, up from 60.9 billion Swiss Francs the same time last year.

The company reported 11.7% growth in emerging markets and 2.4% growth in developed markets. It expects organic sales growth of 6.1% this year and 2.9% internal growth.

Nestlé UK and Ireland confectionery sales hit record levels in September with sales of Yorkie bars up almost 30% over the year to date. In addition sales of Kit Kat Chunky have risen by 18%.

Commenting on the results, Fiona Kendrick, chairman and chief executive, Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: “Our business continues to perform well as we enter the last quarter of the year. The economy remains tough but overall we are growing market share in the majority of our categories. Coffee and confectionery have always been our heartland and they continue to drive our business forward.”
