Ben & Jerry’s launched a new flavour ‘One Sweet World’ in partnership with the Peter McVerry Trust.
The popular American Ice-cream’s latest flavour is made up of Fairtrade coffee and caramel ice-cream, marshmallow as well as chocolate ‘&’ symbols.
The awareness raising ice-cream is the latest instalment to Ben & Jerry’s One Sweet World international campaign. It’s mission is to bring people together and create a positive outlook within our communities at a time of increasing division.
According to Ed Shepherd, Social Mission Manager Ben & Jerry’s, "This new flavour marks an important part of our One Sweet World campaign, and comes with an important message – the time is now to stand together! We believe there is a common set of values that unite us (hope, compassion and understanding!) and that the power is in our hands to help shape a more welcoming world”.
For their Irish campaign they have selected The Peter McVerry Trust to partner with, which is a Dublin based charity that aims to reduce homelessness and the harm caused by drug misuse and social disadvantage.
Speaking of the partnership Pat Doyle, CEO of Peter McVerry Trust, said: “Creating a more inclusive and welcoming society starts with a belief that people from all backgrounds deserve our respect, and it is built by each one of us doing our bit to drive a more positive narrative of our local communities. Our vision is of an Ireland that supports all those on the margins and upholds their rights to full inclusion in society. It might not be as simple as it sounds, but what’s important is that we make the first step. Peter McVerry Trust is delighted to have been selected as Ben & Jerry’s partner in Ireland for this important campaign!”
Ben & Jerry’s has been increasingly vocal on the issue of inclusion, and it’s recent Irish initiative is the latest part of it’s European One Sweet World campaign – from ice cream tours that celebrate local community campaigns in London, to volunteering projects in Berlin.
The proceeds of One Sweet World will contribute to fund projects that contribute to more inclusive communities at a time of increasing division.
Ben & Jerry's, has a wide range of ice-cream, frozen yogurt and sorbet flavours to choose from. It was founded in 1978 in the United States, and operates globally as a subsidiary of the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever.
