Mars Announces Product Recall Following Fears Over Plastic Contamination

Mars Ireland has announced a recall of several products in its range, as a ‘precautionary step’ following the discovery of plastic in a product purchased in Germany.

The recalled products were produced in Mars’ factory in Veghel in The Netherlands (pictured).

In a statement, Mars Ireland said that it was recalling certain funsize Mars, Milkyway, Mix Variety Pack and Celebrations products ‘after a piece of plastic was found in one of our products. In some instances, such a piece of plastic could present a choking hazard’.

The affected products are as follows:

‘This is an isolated incident and only the above products manufactured in the Netherlands are impacted,’ Mars added.

‘No other varieties of chocolate, pack formats or bar sizes are affected in Ireland and no other best before dates or products manufactured at any other location are impacted.’
