Aryzta Appoints George Sklikas As New CEO Europe
Swiss-Irish baked goods manufacturer Aryzta has announced the appointment of Gregory Sklikas as CEO Europe, succeeding Dermot Murphy, who has decided to step down from his position.
Sklikas will join Aryzta at the end of May 2018 with Murphy providing mentoring and support as Sklikas transitions into the role on Murphy’s departure at the end of August, according to the company.
Sklikas has previously worked 14 years with Unilever and 11 years with Royal Friesland Campina, where his most recent role was COO, EMEA based in the Netherlands.
At Friesland Campina, he held full P&L responsibility for €4 billion sales, 10,000 people, 14 operating companies, overseeing 35 countries and 21 factories in the region. Before that he also headed operations in South East Europe and Greece.
Dermot Murphy will leave the Aryzta after 20 years of working at the company.
Commenting, Aryzta CEO, Kevin Toland said, “Dermot has provided great leadership and support during a period of significant change and transition for the Group.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Dermot for his invaluable contribution to ARYZTA throughout his 20 years’ service, and to wish him well in his future endeavours.

Dermot Murphy said, “In my 20 years in Aryzta I have had wonderful experiences and have fully enjoyed my time working with the Aryzta teams both in Europe and across the globe. I wish Kevin, his new management team and everybody in ARYZTA much success for the future.”
The bakery giant posted a revenue drop of 6.3% in its most recent results, down to €1.787 billion, with issues surrounding undocumented workers and failed strategy in its North American business.
