Diageo Listed On 2019 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index

Diageo has been recognised in the 2019 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, which distinguishes companies committed to transparency in gender reporting and advancing women’s equality.

The drinks giant said that to be listed as one of the 230 companies demonstrates its 'continued strong performance on the representation of women within the business, its policies to promote gender equality among employees as well as wider initiatives to ensure women are empowered throughout the supply chain and beyond'.

Inclusive & Diverse

“I am delighted that Diageo has been included in this year’s Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. This is welcome recognition and we have a clear ambition to achieve more,” Mairead Nayagar, Diageo chief human resources officer, said.

“We firmly believe that inclusive and diverse businesses perform better. To date, we’ve made strong strides to promote gender balance within our business where currently 40% of our Executive Committee are women and we have targets for our global senior leadership team to be 40% female by 2025."

It is the second year in a row that the group has been recognised for the diversity of leadership within its executive committee and board.

Diageo also scored highly for a number of policies in place to foster a diverse and inclusive culture, particularly around flexible working, family care and health care.

“We applaud Diageo and the other 229 firms tracked by the index for their action to measure gender equality through the Bloomberg GEI framework. Diageo’s GEI inclusion is a strong indicator to its employees, investors and industry peers alike that it is leading by example to advance ongoing efforts for a truly inclusive workplace.”

This year’s list has doubled in size from 2018 and includes firms from 10 sectors headquartered across 36 countries and regions.

Among the list are other consumer goods, food, and drink companies, AB InBev, Campbell Soup Company, The Coca-Cola Company, Danone, Diageo PLC, L’Oréal, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, and Unilever were recognised.
