IDA Praises PCI Pharma Services Over New Packaging Plant

IDA Ireland has congratulated PCI Pharma Services (PCI), pharmaceutical outsourcing services provider, on the launch of its new contained packaging facility.

The new facility, set up in Drogheda, Co. Louth, specialises in the primary and secondary packaging of highly potent products. It will lead to the creation of more than 70 jobs over the next five years.

CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan said, “This announcement by PCI is excellent news. It will add to the growing cluster of life sciences companies in Ireland. The availability of this range of clinical and pharmaceutical services will increase the attractiveness of Ireland as an international base for early-stage speciality Biopharma companies.

“It is also proof that Ireland is viewed as an attractive location in Europe for global companies seeking to provide stability around the evolving Brexit situation.”

Vote Of Confidence

The project is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland, and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, TD, also welcomes the announcement. She said, “I warmly welcome the opening of PCI’s new facility in Drogheda, which will result in over 70 highly skilled new jobs being brought to the town.

“This is in addition to the 50 new jobs that will be created at their facility in Stamullen, Co. Meath. This is a great vote of confidence in what Ireland has to offer, especially in a regional location. It will provide additional facilities and services for our thriving pharmaceutical sector.”
