Applegreen’s recently opened Lisburn Motorway Service Area has been awarded as the NACS International Convenience Retailer of the Year, at the 2016 International Convenience Retail Awards, held this year in London.
The Lisburn site, situated on the M1 south of Belfast in Northern Ireland, was opened in March of this year and is the 11th such facility opened by the Group.
The site is described as reflecting the latest design concepts developed by Applegreen, and features an executive lounge on the mezzanine floor along, with six different food offers.
Now in their eighth year, the International Convenience Retail Awards have become a key part of the retail calendar. In selecting the winning site, the judges agreed that Applegreen’s new M1 Lisburn site displays an excellent and effective use of space, as well as a great mix of proprietary and branded food concepts.
Receiving the award on behalf of Applegreen, Joe Barrett, Chief Operations Officer, said, "It is exceptionally gratifying to receive such a prestigious award from our industry.
"The Applegreen brand and customer proposition is constantly evolving to meet the demands of consumers. Our focus is to bring as many new initiatives to the forecourt market to make life easier for customers, and being announced as International Convenience Retailer of the Year is testament to that ongoing focus."
