The entry deadline (24 March) for the 2017 Checkout Best in Fresh Awards is drawing close. This years awards will take place on Tuesday 4 July at the Shelbourne Hotel, in Dublin. The awards are open to all retail groups and independent retailers, including multiples, symbol groups, discounters and non-affiliated stores.
The awards have been designed to reward, encourage and promote excellence in fresh-food retailing in Ireland, with retailers of all sizes and formats recognised for their high standards in this area.
Taking place each year in the early summer, the award categories cover everything from fruit-and-veg offerings to fresh meat and fish, as well as food to go. They also include six supplier awards, which are determined by the industry and include bakery, fruit-and-veg, meat, seafood, dairy and equipment suppliers.
Last year, over 250 retailers attended the Best in Fresh Awards, where some of the big winners included Garvey’s SuperValu, Dingle, which took the award for Best Large Supermarket, Tesco Park Pointe, which won Best Medium Supermarket, and Rushe’s SuperValu, Killiney, winner of the Best Small Supermarket Award.
Jenny Whelan, editor of Checkout magazine, said of the awards, “The Best in Fresh Awards are always a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the very best in Irish grocery retailing, as well as being a great networking event.
“Choosing last year’s winners was extremely difficult, as the calibre of entries was so high, and I expect this year to be no different.”
The 2017 Checkout Best in Fresh Awards can be entered either online or by post.
All entries must be accompanied by an entry fee of €45 before 24 March.
