Glanmore Foods Win Big At National Q Mark Awards

The National Q Mark Awards took place last Thursday,recognising a number of retailer and food producers practices for hygiene and food safety practices. The biggest winner on the night was Glanmore Foods, which took home the award for ‘National Champions of The Q Mark for Hygiene and Food Safety’ for the second year in a row.

Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland Kilcock, was presented with the ‘Best Distribution Centre in Ireland’ award while Manor Farm claimed the ‘Best Quality Certified Poultry Plant’ and Johnston Mooney & O'Brien the award for ‘Best Bakery in Ireland’.

Amongst the retailers awarded for their high standards of hygiene and food safety were: Roche's Londis, Doneraile (Best Convenience Store); Maher's Spar, Goresbridge (Best Delicatessen); Tobin's Spar Express, Letterkenny (Best Forecourt) and Centra Patrick Street Mullingar (Best Forecourt with a Delicatessen).

The Best Supermarket in Ireland went to Hurley’s SuperValu Midleton, while Best Retail Store went to Buckley’s Centra Mullingar. Additionally, Byrne's Spar Custom House Quay won ‘Best Retail Express’.

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, was in attendance at the awards and said, “At the heart of our jobs plan is supporting Irish businesses providing products and services to the highest global standards and creating good, sustainable employment. It is great to see so many Irish businesses from all parts of the country making high standards a key part of their offering to customers. These are the innovative Irish businesses that will power the engine of our recovery, and I wish them every success in the future.”

Irene Collins, Managing Director of Excellence Ireland Quality Association said that the National Q Mark Awards celebrate the companies that put the consumer “at the heart of everything they do”. She added, “Achieving a place as a finalist at The National Q Mark Awards demonstrates exceptional standards in and of itself. Companies that go on to win a National Q Mark Award prove that they have exceeded even these impeccable standards, thereby earning their title as the Pioneers of Business Excellence. The winners this evening are therefore the best of the best.” EIQA (Excellence Ireland Quality Association) has been the Irish National Quality Association since 1969. It audits the standards of thousands of organisations and businesses both in Ireland and internationally.
