Hula Hoops The Biggest Spender On OOH Advertising In April

Hula Hoops was the biggest spender on outdoor advertising in April 2016, according to the latest Posterwatch report from PML Group.

The snacks brand accounted for approximately €314k worth of spend, well ahead of its nearest competitor in Brennan's Bread, which accounted for €247k. Coca-Cola continues to spend big in 2016, and takes third place for April with a spend of approximately €208k.

Other big spenders during the period included Nescafé Azera (€157k worth of spend), Danone Actimel (€141k worth of spend), and Magnum (also €141k worth of spend).

In terms of categories, the Retail Outlets category accounted for the highest level of Outdoor spend for the month (€1.33 million), just ahead of Beers & Ciders, which accounted for €1.27m worth of spend, and Food, which accounted for €1.19 million.

Amy Burke, marketing executive at PML Group said, "Retail Outlets continued as the top spending category on Out of Home advertising in April, with a market share of 9.3%. Supermarkets were very active in cycles 8 and 9.

"SuperValu launched its Good Food Karma campaign for 2016 and other advertisers include Tesco F&F, Aldi and Lidl. Lidl features in the top 10 advertisers and also ran one of ‘The Big 5’ campaigns in April for its ‘Full Shop. Half Price’ promotion on OOH."
