Did you know?... Fast food chain McDonald's has seen its efforts to reduce its plastic waste backfire as its customers have hit out at the chain for introducing ‘flimsy’ paper straws. Reportedly, over 42,000 people in the UK have signed a petition urging McDonald's to bring back the plastic straws, complaining that the paper alternatives are too soggy. In the meantime, some customers have resorted to ordering a coffee lid for their regular cup.

Did you know?... Canadian firm Saputo has entered an agreement to acquire the Speciality Cheese Business of Lion-Dairy & Drinks in Australia for A$280 million. Lion-Dairy & Drinks is a subsidiary of Japanese company Kirin. The Speciality Cheese Business operates two manufacturing facilities located in Burnie and King Island, Tasmania, with a workforce of nearly 400 people. Saputo recently acquired the UK-based dairy group, Dairy Crest, for a total sum of £975 million.

Did you know?... Papa John International Inc's founder John Schnatter is in talks with financial advisers for a possible sale of his stake in the company, a regulatory filing showed on Monday. Schnatter, who owns about 31% of Papa John's, stepped down from the company's board last month, as part of a settlement resolving a bitter dispute for control of the world's third-largest pizza chain. The company has been working to fix its brand image after Schnatter reportedly used a racial slur on a media training conference call last year.

Marks and Spencer is recruiting 100 mega fans to form the Percy Pig Panel on the 16th May to vote on whether a special edition, classic Percy pack, with the gelatine back in, should be introduced. Percy’s fans are being asked to pitch for their place on the panel by sharing why they love Percy on theM&S Facebook page or M&S Twitter page where the video from Percy can be viewed.

Did you know?... Global coffee giant Starbucks is making its latest move, but on the beauty scene. The company has unveiled its kit of four liquid lipsticks/ glosses called ‘The S’mores Frappuccino Sip Kit’. The limited edition kit was launched in tandem with the return of the Starbucks S’mores Frappuccino. For more details, see here.

Did you know?... Major U.S. meat producer Tyson Foods has announced that it will roll out a line of vegan products this summer. The move was confirmed by company CEO, Noel White, who was speaking to analysts on a recent call. The news comes after Tyson divested from vegan meat producer Beyond Meat just before the vegan meat company went public last week.
