Did you know… According to research by Kantar Worldpanel, younger shoppers aren’t buying as much fruit and veg as they used to? A report published by Agriland.ie found that under 35s now hold 16% of the fruit and vegetable market, after holding 19% two years ago.

Did you know… Irish company Zeto, which recently signed a deal to deploy its temperature-monitoring software in Lidl’s Irish stores, has secured financing of €1.7 million? According to IrishTimes.com, the investment was made through the Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital venture fund, with commitments from Business Venture Partners (BVP) and Enterprise Ireland.

Did you know… Aldi is adding sportswear to its range of Specialbuys from 14 April? The offer includes sports apparel for men and women from €4.99 to €25.99, as well as Aldi’s Ultrasonic Pain Relief Massager with Gel for €64.99.

Did you know… Northern Irish drinks company, Maine Soft Drinks, has launched its first zero-sugar products in order to meet growing market demand? The Co. Antrim-based company has developed sugar-free versions of its Pineapple and Cloudy Lime lemonade for Tesco and the Musgrave Group.

Did you know… Coffee shop franchise Esquires will open six outlets in Dublin this year, as a cost of €1.5 million? The first of these branches has already opened on Dublin's O’Connell Street, next to the Savoy Cinema, costing €200,000.

Did you know… Research by The Grocer has discovered that Waitrose will be the retailer most affected by the UK’s incoming tax on sugary drinks? Analysts noted that 62.7% of Waitrose's private-label drinks offered on its website would be taxed under the new rules, while Morrisons would only see 44% taxed.
