Did you know?... Dairygold won seven gold awards at the International Cheese Awards, which were held in Nantwich on Tuesday 30th July. In total, Dairgold scooped up a massive 16 awards, including a gold medal for its Irish White Extra Mature Cheddar in the general Cheese category.

Did you know?... YO! Sushi will open more manned kiosks in Tesco UK stores following a successful trial in two Extra hypermarkets in Bournemouth and Sunbury-on-Thames, as reported by The Grocer. Last year, Tesco began a trial and launched YO! counters in two Extra stores in the UK. This was the first time YO! To Go products were made available outside YO!’s restaurants. A spokeswoman for YO! said the trial had been well received by Tesco customers, and would be rolled out to more Tesco stores soon. The rollout is said not to be confined to Extra stores.

Did you know?... UK consumer confidence improved in July, according to new data which showed that Britons are feeling more optimistic about their finances. Market research firm GfK said people were feeling more upbeat because of low unemployment and wage growth. It also found consumers were less pessimistic about the economic outlook despite Brexit. However, GfK warned that optimism could be tested as the 31 October deadline for the UK leaving the EU nears.

Did you know?... German pharmaceutical giant Bayer has said it is now targeted in some 18,400 US legal cases over glyphosate, a key herbicide ingredient that plaintiffs say caused grave illnesses such as cancer. "As of July 11, 2019, lawsuits from approximately 18,400 plaintiffs had been served in the United States in connection with the crop protection product glyphosate," Bayer said in a statement. In April, the number of cases stood at 13,400.

Did you know?... Alimentation Couche-Tard, the Canadian owners of Irish forecourt retailer Circle K, has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement over a strategic investment in Fire & Flower Holdings Corp, a US-based cannabis retailer. Fire & Flower currently operates or licenses 23 cannabis retail stores in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. The deal will see ACT to provide Fire & Flower with additional capital to further accelerate their expansion strategy.

Did you know?... Oprah Winfrey, in collaboration with Kraft Heinz, has announced that new ‘O, That’s Good!’ Frozen Skillet meals will be added to the brand lineup. This launch is the fourth category from Mealtime Stories, LLC, the joint venture between Kraft Heinz and Oprah Winfrey, which includes refrigerated soups, sides and frozen pizza. The O, That’s Good! brand was inspired by Oprah’s love for nutritious, great-tasting food. Mealtime Stories will support O, That’s Good! Frozen Skillet Meals with a robust 360-degree marketing campaign, including a new national TV ad featuring Oprah.
