Did You Know ... Supermac’s has accused McDonald’s of ‘trademarking the McWorld’? According to a report on Fora.ie, the Galway-based chain has asked the EU Intellectual Property Office to reconsider McDonald’s ‘Big Mac’ and ‘Mc’ trademarks, accusing the US fast-food company of trademark ‘bullying’.

Did You Know ... The Vintners Federation Ireland and the Licenced Vintners Association are launching a pub awards programme? The main objective of the Awards is to recognise and reward excellence and innovation across various categories in the Irish Pub industry.

Did You Know … Food company Chopped is planning an expansion from 20 to 46 outlets? The expansion will also create 430 jobs in Irish and UK locations, among them Wicklow, Cork and Waterford.

Did You Know … a report by a European Parliament committee warned Brexit could reverse plans to drop roaming charges in the UK and Northern Ireland? The Industry, research and energy committee stated a deal to abolish roaming charges in the European Economic Area would not apply there post-Brexit.

Did You Know … Cereal brand Weetabix has been sold to a US company? Previously owned by China’s Bright Food Group, US cereal company Post Holdings has struck a €1.65 billion deal to purchase Weetabix, Aplen and Barbara’s brands to its portfolio.
