Musgrave MarketPlace Announces Culinary Arts Support Programme

Musgrave MarketPlace today announced a €250,000 culinary arts support programme with DIT Grangegorman.

This investment will aid in developing a new training restaurant and annual scholarship fund for the College’s School of Culinary Arts & Food Technology. The programme is part of Musgrave MarketPlace’s ‘ongoing commitment to supporting the development of the Irish food sector and investing in up-and-coming chefs and future leaders of the food industry’.

Commenting on the announcement, Michelle Fennell, Marketing Director of Musgrave MarketPlace, said, “We are delighted to launch this programme with DIT. Supporting the future influencers and leaders of the Irish food sector is hugely important for us and for the continued development of the industry.

“The School of Culinary Arts & Food Technology produces top class culinary graduates every year and I hope the new training restaurant will become a hub for educational excellence with significant impact on the food industry in Ireland.”

Musgrave has also launched a new scholarship fund for Culinary Arts students at DIT. This fund will annually award eight €3,000 scholarships to its recipients.

President of DIT, Professor Brian Norton, added, “This generous commitment by Musgrave MarketPlace represents a real contribution to Irish higher education and will assist DIT in delivering on its campus development. We have no doubt that the Musgrave MarketPlace restaurant will become a key teaching space, establishing a strong focus on skills and innovation for the food sector.

“In addition to this the Musgrave Scholarships in Culinary Arts will be of great benefit to DIT students and recognising excellence and commitment in the field of culinary arts.”

The Musgrave MarketPlace training restaurant will provide training facilities for over 800 students from 11 different full and part-time programmes within the DIT School of Culinary Arts & Food Technology, as well as the wider student population in hospitality and tourism studies.
