Smurfit Kappa, Kerry Group And Musgrave Named Amongst Top Irish Companies

The Irish Times has published its list of Ireland’s Top 1000 Companies, with Smurfit Kappa, Kerry Group and Musgave all making it to the top 20.

Global packaging giant, Smurfit Kappa takes 13th place on the list with turnover of around €8.1 billion, and was also revealed to have the highest effective tax rate, paying €186m in tax last year on profits of nearly €600 million.

Food and ingredients business Kerry Group comes in at 15, while Musgrave is listed at 19, with respective turnovers of approximately €6.1 billion and €4.4 billion.

While Musgrave was the only retailer to make the top 20, Topaz (31), Tesco (37), and Dunnes Stores Ireland (38) are all listed in the top 50.

The FMCG industry is well represented in the top 50 too, with Total Produce (28), Glanbia (35), ABP Food Group (36), Ornua (39), Moy Park (47), Greencore(48), and Diageo (50) all featuring.

The list was compiled based on the turnover of companies based in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and is topped by building materials group, CRH with a turnover of €23.6 billion.
