ALDI Ballyhaunis Store Opens, Creates 30 New Local Jobs

ALDI has announced the opening of its new store in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, creating 30 new permanent jobs in the local area.

Located on Upper Main Street, the store was officially opened today (22 June) in the presence of the local team and store manager Charlene Kilgallon.

With six stores now in Mayo, ALDI noted that it has made a capital investment of over €43 million therein since opening its first Mayo store, in Claremorris, in 2007.

The retailer currently employs over 130 people in Mayo, with a €3.2 million total annual salary spend across its six stores in the county.

Additionally, ALDI highlighted that it has invested €1.6 million in Mayo as part of its Project Fresh initiative.

Speaking at the Ballyhaunis store opening, store manager Kilgallon said, “This new €7 million store in Ballyhaunis is the latest step in ALDI’s expansion programme, and I’m delighted to open our sixth store in Mayo today.

“This new store, and the 30 new jobs created, will support our ambition to deliver value to the people of Ireland at the locations most convenient to them.

“As a leading retailer in Ireland, we are very conscious of the current challenges facing consumers and businesses.

“The cost-of-living crisis is impacting every household, and we know what it means for our customers. Working alongside our strong network of local suppliers, we will continue to work hard, mindful of the challenges facing our customers and supporting them where we can.”
