ALDI Opens Mountbellew Store, Creates 15 New Local Jobs

ALDI Ireland has officially opened its new store in Mountbellew, Co. Galway. creating 15 new local jobs.

The new Mountbellew store is ALDI’s 11th store in Galway and will see the creation of 15 new permanent full-time jobs across management and store assistant roles. This brings the number of people employed by ALDI in the county up to 260.

Speaking at the Mountbellew store opening, Jolita Mazulyte, store manager, ALDI Mountbellew, said, “As a leading retailer in Ireland, we are very conscious of the current challenges facing consumers and businesses. The cost-of-living crisis is impacting every household and we know what it means for our customers. ALDI Ireland is steadfast in our belief that continued investment in our value offering and our store network is key.

"Working alongside our strong network of local suppliers, we will continue to work hard, mindful of the challenges facing our customers and supporting them in weathering this storm.”

The spacious new 1,315sqm store features ALDI’s award-winning Project Fresh layout, characterised by wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings.

There are 120 car park spaces available to ALDI shoppers, along with four electric vehicle chargers and 10 bike spaces.

The store has been designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

It is powered by 100% green electricity and has 90 square metres of solar panels on the roof.

ALDI noted that its new Electronic Shelf Labels are better for the environment and replace traditional paper price labels, meaning that stock or price changes can easily and quickly be communicated to customers.

Supporting Local 

ALDI currently partners with 12 Irish food and drink producers across Co Galway and spent over €16 million with its Galway suppliers in 2021.

ALDI is committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of locally produced Irish products available at its stores.

Last year, the retailer spent €1 billion with its Irish food and drink suppliers.

The discounter noted that the latest step in the company’s dedicated West of Ireland expansion programme, which will see over €63 million invested and more than 140 new full-time jobs created across Connacht over the next two years.
