Centra ‘Champions’ To Train Future Hurling Stars

Centra ‘Champions of Healthy Living’ ambassador and GAA star Henry Shefflin, along with Patrick Horgan and Conal Keaney, lined out in Herbert Park for the launch of Centra’s GAA endorsed product range and its new community event summer tour.

The product range includes low calorie sandwiches, ‘Fruit Pots’ and smoothies, and will be promoted by a selection of the inter-county players, past and present, travelling across Ireland to give healthy eating and training tips to the next generation of hurling stars.

There will be twelve community hurling events taking place over the next three months, starting Saturday the 23rd May in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny before travelling on to counties from Cork to Dublin.

Children will have a chance to take part in a hurling skills session with some of the best players in the game and will pick-up some tips on the diet and nutrition. The events are run with the support of local Centra stores and feature a host of entertainment along with a barbeque for all.

The grand finale will take place this October in Croke Park, as Centra is giving a selection of clubs a once in a lifetime chance to win a special training session with Centra’s ‘Champions of Healthy Living’.

“This year we are delighted to launch our GAA endorsed product range that is available in stores nationwide. Along with a fun-day out for all at our community events, our ‘Champions of Healthy Living’ hurling stars will help educate parents and children alike on the importance of eating well and being active.”

Meanwhile, ten-time All-Ireland Champion, Henry Shefflin said, “I am delighted to be involved once again with the Centra community hurling events. I’m particularly proud to be promoting healthy eating as it’s something I feel strongly about, and I’m looking forward to sharing some valuable, healthy living tips to young hurler throughout the country.”
