Dunnes Stores Takeover Of Café Sol Gets Competition Approval

Dunnes Stores has received Competition and Consumer Protection Commission approval for its takeover of café chain Café Sol Holdings Limited.

In a statement, the Commission said that it had 'formed the view that the proposed transaction will not substantially lessen competition in any market for goods or services in the State'.

The Café Sol Holdings business includes operation of a number of coffee shops operated under the Café Sol and Baxter & Greene brands; a food delivery service operating under the Café Sol brand, and the Neon restaurant on Camden St, Dublin 2.

Café Sol was established in 1998 and has its headquarters at Lower Baggot Street, Dublin. It operates eight cafes around the central Dublin area.
