Eurospar Watch House Cross Closes Due To 'Challenging' Trading Environment

Eurospar Watch House Cross in Limerick has been forced to cease trading with immediate effect, citing a 'challenging local trading environment along with unsustainable business costs'.

In a statement, BWG Foods said that the company "is in the process of consulting with its 15 full-time and 25 part-time staff" employed at the store.

According to press reports, staff and customers arrived at the store yesterday morning to discover the shutters were down, and the Moyross-based store had 'ceased trading with immediate effect'.

Local TDs were quick to take to social media to comment on the surprise move, with Kieran O'Donnell, Fine Gael TD for Limerick City tweeting "Shocking news that Eurospar in Moyross has closed without notice to staff. My sympathy is with 37 staff, will be huge loss to area."

The store also housed a post office, with postal services understood to be transferred to Caherdavin Post Office following the closure.
