RGDATA Addresses 'The People's Conversation' In Croke Park

RGDATA's Tara Buckley has called for more support for local retailers at an event hosted by community support body The Wheel at Croke Park.

Addressing the event, The People's Conversation, Buckley said that "Irish family owned shops have had some very challenging years. They have had to deal with the economic downturn and the arrival of the biggest British and German retailers.

"But they haven't rolled over. They have rolled up their sleeves and got on with serving their customers, providing good local jobs that people can raise a family on and supporting their local community. If we want these vital businesses to survive – we need to support them," Buckley said.

The purpose of the event was to address issues relating to Ireland's development in the 21st century and the rights, responsibilities and interrelationships of citizens, families, communities and the State.

"We need to support each other and support small local businesses if we want strong, vibrant communities where people look out for each other," Buckley added.
