Supervalu's Christmas Advert 2020 has been nominated as a finalist in the Digital Media Campaign of the Year category in the Digital Awards 2020. Organised by digital business representative body, Digital Business Ireland in partnership with title sponsor Permanent TSB, the inaugural Digital Awards were launched in October to recognise the best digital, e-commerce and innovation businesses in Ireland, while celebrating talent across the industry.

Food & Drink Nominees

Other grocery retail and FMCG nominees include Devan Hughes of Buymie, a finalist in the Digital Trailblazer of the Year category, and off-licence chain, The Molloy Group and Ballykilcavan Brewing Company, who were among the finalists in the Food, Beverage Website of the Year category.

The Awards consist of 13 categories - Website of the Year, New Website of the Year, Online Retailer of the Year, Health, Beauty and Well-being Website of the Year, Food, Beverage Website of the Year, Digital Marketing Campaign of the Year, Digital Impact of the Year, Innovation Hub of the Year, App of the Year, Digital Trailblazer of the Year, Influencer of the Year, Next Generation, and Women in Digital.

Inaugural Awards

“This is the very first year of our Digital Awards which are timely given the fundamental change many businesses are currently undergoing," said Lorraine Higgins, secretary general of Digital Business Ireland. "We were blown away by the 300 entries we received, the quality of the applicants, and the individual stories of many businesses as they pivoted their operations over the course of this year.

"Amid the extraordinary challenges of 2020, the business community has served as a powerful beacon of hope, staying relentless in its pursuit to reinvent and deliver solutions for their customers, while moving our economy forward. This pandemic exposed many of our vulnerabilities, but it also showed the remarkable ability of businesses to adapt and pivot as they innovate past these current difficulties.”

Selection Process

As part of the selection process, all entrants’ websites were visited by the judging panel, with those exceeding the judging standards and criteria making it to the finals. The finalists will now be invited to make a further submission and will be given time to provide evidence that they meet the standards expected to win one of the digital awards. The judging panel will then consider the submissions and select the winners, which will be announced on 22 January, 2021.
