SuperValu has announced an agreement with Dublin-based poinsettia grower Uniplumo worth over €500,000. This will be the 17th year that they have made a deal with SuperValu with the Irish grown poinsettias retailing at just €3. Uniplumo has increased the number of poinsettias grown by 30% in the past two years to meet demand.
Martin Kelleher, managing director, SuperValu, said, “Our commercial relationship with Uniplumo is another example of our partnership approach with Irish companies where we have been able to work together to grow and develop the business."
Tom Summerville, general manager, Uniplumo, added, “Poinsettias are a traditional Christmas plant and we are delighted that through SuperValu’s 201 stores, our Bord Bia quality assured Irish grown Poinsettias will decorate homes across Ireland this year." Uniplumo are specialist growers in the Irish horticulture market, operating from six acres of heated glass houses near Swords, County Dublin and employing over 40 staff.
