Tesco Ireland Opens New Store At Newmarket Yards In Dublin

Tesco Ireland has opened its 177th Irish store at Newmarket Yards, in Dublin 8, creating 13 jobs for the area.

The store will offer customers a modern retail experience and a wide selection of quality fresh local and Irish produce.

The store is located in the Newmarket Yards development, just off Cork Street, near the Liberties.

Local suppliers Mannings Bakery and Granby Ltd, famous for its Irish meats, are just two of the local producers that will feature on the shelves in the new store.

The store also has several energy-saving measures, including fridge doors, which will help reduce energy consumption.

Speaking about the opening, the chief operating officer of Tesco Ireland, Geoff Byrne, said, “We are delighted to open the doors on this new store in Newmarket Yards.

“This store is part of our ongoing investment in stores in urban centres across Dublin and the rest of the country.

“We always receive such a warm welcome from the communities in which we are based, and we are committed to ensuring that our new stores play a big part in these communities in future.”

Tesco works with each community it serves.

To date, its Community Fund has helped support thousands of organisations across the country, from sports clubs to local children’s charities.

In its first campaign, the Newmarket Yards store will support the locality with donations to a number of local causes, including St Benedict’s Youth Club, Shannon’s Hopeline and the Liberties Running Club.

‘Actively Engage’

Store manager Kyle Counihan officially opened Tesco Newmarket Yards.

Counihan said, “This is a big moment for all the team.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our new customers, and we cannot wait to actively engage with the community.

“We are especially proud to meet our neighbours in St James’s CBS primary school, who are participating in our Stronger Starts schools programme, when they return in September.

“Through the Community Fund, we are pleased to be able to support local groups and projects over the coming months.”
