CEO of Tesco UK and Ireland, Matt Davies, has been appointed as the new chairman for British fashion retailer N Brown, effective 1 May, 2018.
Davies has been appointed non-executive director and chairman-elect, effective immediately.
He will succeed Andrew Higginson, who is retiring form the board after five years on the job, Reuters reports.
Tesco announced earlier this month that Davies would leave the retailer at the end of April.
The retailer is in the process of a major merger with the UK’s largest wholesaler, Booker, in what the two groups have said will usher in the “UK’s leading food business”.
Booker CEO, Charles Wilson, was appointed to the chief executive position at Tesco’s UK and Ireland arm two weeks ago and is set to assume the role once the merger is finalised, which is expected to be on 5 March.
The retailer is reportedly also planning to create a new discount grocery chain format, to compete with Lidl and Aldi.
