BWG Introduces New B-well App To Support Staff During The Crisis

BWG has announced its plans to introduce a new digital health app to support its staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The food retail and wholesale group said that the BWG B-well app will be available to its 1,650 direct employees, as well as its 23,000 retail staff, reports the Irish Times.

The group, which operates the Spar, Mace, Londis and XL brands said that the app will provides a number of Covid-19-related supports, including 24-hour confidential video and online tools to engage with clinical psychologists and counselling services.

The company said that the app will give its staff access to accredited experts in fitness, nutrition, finance and parenting to help them cope during the crisis.

Speaking with the Irish Times, Peter Donohue, HR director, BWG said: “From a timing perspective, we couldn’t have rolled this out at a better time."

"We hoped at the start that it would prove to be an essential tool for employees but didn’t realise at the start just how critical it would be in terms of supporting staff,” he added.

BWG Foods works with more than 650 suppliers, dealing directly with approximately 14,000 customers, and serves in excess of one million shoppers on a daily basis.
