Unilever Announces Launch Of AI-Powered Platform For Employees

Consumer goods company Unilever recently announced its launch of an artificial intelligence (AI) powered platform for its employees.

Flex Experiences is an internal online talent marketplace that recommends different opportunities across the business that are specific to an employee’s profile and aspirations, according to a statement.

Employees also can learn about all types of opportunities in the business, and the marketplace also encourages employees to gain a new skill or experience. Additionally, employees can work on projects for small or large amounts of time through the program.

Unilever expects Flex Experiences to be available to all employees by 2020.

Jeroen Wels, executive VP HR, Unilever said the program aligns with Unilever’s endeavour to help create a pioneering culture and inspire passion and commitment among its employees.

“We believe that our people are much more than their job title,” he said. “If our people thrive, we thrive as a business.”

Unilever revealed that, over the past year, the platform has been trialled with more than 20,000 employees within the company, across more than 90 countries, unlocking over 60,000 hours in the last two months alone.

The company also noted that it had led to increased employee engagement and satisfaction.

The technology is powered by Israeli-based startup, InnerMobility by Gloat, which has worked closely with Unilever to create the platform. Ben Reuveni, CEO of Gloat, said that, in today’s competitive workforce, “internal mobility is mission critical”.

“We have been working closely with Unilever and the Unilever Foundry over the last 12 months to deliver a platform for their employees that will revolutionise how people build a career within the company, unlocking potential and development,” Reuveni said. “We are helping people seek experiences over experience.”
