New Communications Appointments At Tesco And Musgrave

(7 May) Tesco and Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland have both appointed new recruits to their respective communications departments.

Aoife Donohoe has been appointed head of PR at Tesco Ireland, having joined the retailer from Bord Gais, where she held the role of senior press officer. She also held senior press and PR roles with Aer Arann, Eircom and Meteor.

Donohoe fills the role vacated by former head of communications Seamus Banim, who joined ABP Food Group in February. She will work alongside Christine Heffernan, who was recently appointed head of corporate affairs at the retailer.

Tesco opened its newest outlet at Park Pointe in Dun Laoghaire last Friday (pictured); its 146th store in the Republic.

Elsewhere, Paul Fitzsimons has been appointed head of communications at Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland, following an eight-year spell as director of corporate affairs and communications at Kellogg's Europe. He also previously held the role of head of communications at Ryanair, head of marketing at Today FM, and PR manager at Guinness.

He takes on the role vacated by Sue Lamon-Diver, who was appointed internal communications director at Kerry Ingredients and Flavours in February.

Fuel operator Topaz also announced a raft of new appointments to its roster of non-executive directors last week, including former Taoiseach Brian Cowen, former AIB chief executive Colm Doherty, Denis O'Brien, Sean Corkery, Lucy Gaffney, and Emmett O'Neill. In addition, Niall Devereux has been appointed to the retailer's board.
