Ór-Real Irish Butter Signs Nationwide Deal With Tesco

Ór-Real Irish Butter has announced that it has signed a new deal with Tesco.

The move will see the product stocked in 123 stores across the country for the first time.

The agreement with Tesco means that Ór-Real Irish Butter is now stocked in more than 350 stores in Ireland.

Commenting on the new deal, Aisling Pearce, senior buying manager, chilled and frozen, with Tesco Ireland, said, “We are very proud to support Irish producers and are delighted to be working with Ór-Real Irish Butter.

“Tesco works with over 500 Irish food and drink suppliers, which, in turn, support[s] almost 13,000 farming families nationwide.

“As a proud Cork woman, I’m looking forward to seeing this great product stocked across so many of our stores.”

About North Cork Creameries

Ór-Real Irish Butter is made in Kanturk, Co. Cork, by North Cork Creameries, using the ‘traditional method of slow churning – the only addition is a touch of salt.’

North Cork Creameries has been making butter for almost 100 years.

The farmer-owned independent cooperative was established in 1928.

It employs 120 local people directly, supports 250 farming families in North Cork, Kerry and Limerick, and contributes significantly to the local economy.

Food Industry Awards

During 2022, Ór-Real Irish Butter swept the boards, picking up three separate food industry awards.

It was named a gold award-winner in the butter category at the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards and won gold in the same category at Blas na hÉireann.

Ór-Real Irish Butter was awarded two stars at the Great Taste Awards 2022, and only entries considered outstanding receive two stars.

Pat Sheahan, CEO of North Cork Creameries, said, “We launched Ór-Real Irish Butter in October 2021, using almost a century of experience in turning the best local milk into the highest-quality butter.

“It has proved to be a huge hit with customers, and we’re delighted to work with Tesco and see Ór-Real Irish Butter stocked in all of their stores nationwide.

“We thrive on tradition. Generations of farming families have been supplying milk for our butter, and we still use traditional methods, but to modern standards.

“The quality of Ór-Real Irish Butter is reflected in the number of awards we won last year, winning gold or two stars each time we entered.”

Love Irish Food

Ór-Real Irish Butter noted that it is a member of Love Irish Food, which safeguards the future of food and drink manufacturing in Ireland.

Kieran Rumley, executive director of Love Irish Food, added, “The importance of consumers supporting Irish food companies has never been greater. We’re committed to ensuring that customers have access to quality Irish food brands, produced locally and using the best of local ingredients.

“By supporting Irish brands, we can make a real difference to businesses and the economy, as well as protecting and growing Irish jobs.”
