Unilever Not Raising Irish Costs

International FMCG giant has responded to claims that it was rising costs in products in Ireland, saying that this is not the case.

In a statement released today, it said, "There has been no overall cost price increase on the portfolio of products sold to retailers by Unilever Ireland.

"The comments being reported are entirely inaccurate."

The response comes after Tesco in the UK disputed a rise in costs on Unilever products. Retail Group Musgrave then released a comment saying it would not accept a rise in costs in its stores.

A spokesperson told The Irish Independent that, “There is a currency exchange mechanism in place which has negated the effect of the cost price increase, so there is no real increase in price in Ireland."
