C&C Cuts 34 Jobs Across Its Irish Operations

Drinks group C&C has reduced its workforce in Ireland by more than 30 as a result of the impact of Covid-19.

According to reports on RTE.ie, C&C said the majority of the reductions, which happened over recent months, came through voluntary redundancies.

C&C's commercial and distribution teams on the island of Ireland, which includes Bulmers Ireland in the Republic of Ireland and Tennent's in Northern Ireland, were impacted.

Difficult Decision

"C&C Group continues to be severely impacted by Covid-19 and the prolonged closure of the hospitality industry," said Tom McCusker, managing director of C&C Group Ireland.

"To streamline the business and align our cost base to this challenging reality, we took the difficult decision to reduce our commercial and distribution teams across the island of Ireland by 34 people over the last few months, the majority of which were voluntary redundancies."

Long-term Sustainability

Mr McCusker added that while any job losses are regrettable, these were necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the business in Ireland.

"There are no further redundancies planned in Ireland," he added. "However, as this crisis evolves, we continue to review our operations to ensure we are positioned to overcome the current challenges and primed for the eventual reopening of the hospitality industry."
