Did you know?... “Single-use” has been named Word Of The Year, according to Collins Dictionary experts who have created an annual list of new and notable words. “Single-use” refers to products, often plastic, which are made to be used only once before they are thrown away, with lexicographers saying that use of the word has gone up four times since 2013.

Did you know?... Ikea Ireland announced sales of €181.5 million for the Financial Year ending 31 August 2018. This represents a significant 7.4% growth in sales on FY17. Ikea has retained its place as the leader in Ireland’s Home Furnishing market, where it now holds an 8.7% market share. The launch of Ikea's Shop Online channel almost one year ago has been a significant growth driver in FY18, enabling Ikea products to become more accessible to people across Ireland.

Did you know?... Golden Discs is opening three new stores this month, bringing its store count to 19 as it aims to attract customers back into bricks and mortar music outlets. Last weekend the brand returned to Liffey Valley shopping centre in west Dublin seven years after closing there. This weekend, the company will open in Kilkenny’s Market Cross Shopping Centre and the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick, where it also previously had a store. The company also has 80 Tesco concessions across the country. Golden Discs will add 30 new employees.

Did you know?... Fast-food giant McDonald's has announced it is to begin delivering food in several parts of the country. The McDelivery service, in partnership with UberEATS, is available to anyone within one and a half miles of participating restaurants. It will roll out across Dublin, Galway, and Cork in phase one from 8 November.

Did you know?... Smurfit Kappa has been named European Supplier of the Year by 3M, the global science and innovation company behind leading brands including Scotch, Command, and Post-it. The prestigious award was conferred in recognition of Smurfit Kappa’s innovative design and order process for 3M’s Point-of-Sale (POS) displays. Smurfit Kappa used its unique online tools and applications to develop a new catalogue for the company with in-built efficiencies, cutting the implementation time of new display initiatives from 15 to 8 weeks.

Did you know?... The Kraft Heinz Company announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Canadian natural cheese business to Parmalat for a purchase price of $1.62 billion CAD (approximately $1.23 billion USD at current FX rates). The agreement includes the sale of natural cheese brands Cracker Barrel, P’tit Quebec and aMOOza! in the Canadian market. The proposed transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2019, subject to regulatory review and approval.
