Online Orders Expected To Soar By 635%, As Ireland Embraces Black Friday Sales

Irish shoppers appear to have embraced the Black Friday and Cyber Monday fever as new figures show that sales orders from Ireland rose by 635% last November, compared with the monthly average.

As reported by the Irish Times, this means Ireland was the highest performing market in the world in terms of percentage up-lift in cross-border purchases during November last year.

It is expected that Irish consumers would spend approximately €7.8 billion this year, research by eShopWorld shows.

Research showed, global online sales in Ireland grew by over 100% last November, the biggest spike in any market.

Autoaddress, an Irish company that validates addresses online for delivery drivers, said it expects the retail event to overtake Christmas as the busiest home-shopping delivery period of the year.

According to the group, deliveries following Black Friday rose by 48%. This year, deliveries are already up by 17.5% on the weekly average, the week before the event kicks off.

However, according to PayPal, Irish consumers chose to shop at international online retailers on these days, rather than local ones.
