Aldi Ireland Opens Newly Renovated Castleisland ‘Project Fresh’ Store

Aldi Ireland today opened its newly renovated store in Castleisland, Co. Kerry, which was upgraded as part of the retailer’s Project Fresh initiative.

The renovation represents a €1 million investment in the store, which has seen the interior completely refurbished.

Aldi Castleisland’s new layout includes a wide selection of fresh food at the front of the store.

It also has hi-spec fixture and fittings throughout and new category signage to provide a seamless shopping experience.

Project Fresh

The store received a full makeover in line with Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design.

It was recognised at the Checkout National Grocery Retail Awards 2023 where Aldi’s Adamstown store won for the design, thanks in part to its superior quality across fruit and vegetables.

Last year, Aldi invested €7.2 million in upgrading six of its stores throughout Ireland as part of Project Fresh enhanced.

Project Fresh Enhanced introduced exciting new units to stores, such as a fresh herb stand, a dedicated bread and cake fixture, and a health and beauty feature.

The stores are also placing an emphasis on sustainability, with Aldi’s entire store network now powered by 100% wind generated energy.

The retailer has achieved ISO 50001 accreditation in recognition of its efforts to improve energy efficiencies.

The Castleisland store will also receive a CO2 upgrade, meaning there will be more environmentally friendly refrigerants in store.

‘Fantastic News For Our Local Customers’

The newly renovated store is deeply rooted in the local community, donating surplus food to local causes through its national partnership with FoodCloud.

Within Aldi’s Community Grants programme, it has also supported the local causes of My Canine Companion, St. Francis Special School and Children’s Health Foundation in recent years.

The manager of Aldi Castleisland Peter Tancred said, “The Project Fresh revamp of our store is fantastic news for our local customers.”

“The new spacious design makes for a very enjoyable shop and customers can easily find everything they need with convenient store opening hours.
