German-based discount retailer Aldi Ireland scooped up a total of 62 awards at the 2019 Great Taste Awards.
In addition, it was the first year that four Aldi products were awarded three gold stars at the Great Taste Awards.
The retailer’s Specially Selected Irish Free-Range Whole Goose, Roadworks IPA, Specially Selected Infusions Teas - Peppermint & Liquorice, and Specially Selected Maple Syrup, beat over 10,000 products from across the UK and Ireland to win the highest accolade possible.
Quality & Price
Aldi said that the result shows that it’s unbeatable prices doesn’t mean a compromise on quality, as the Group Buying Director, John Curtin, welcomed the achievement.
“Our customers trust our winning combination of quality and price.”
“I would like to congratulate both The Pearse Lyons Brewery [Roadworks IPA] and Skeaghanore Farm [Specially Selected Irish Free-Range Whole Goose].
“These awards are a testament to the fantastic quality of the products they produce.”
In addition to this accolade, Aldi’s own-brand Specially Selected Irish Angus Fillet Steak was voted the World’s Best Fillet last month at the World Steak Challenge 2019.
