Aldi Unveils New Bayside Store, Creates 25 New Jobs

Aldi Ireland has opened a new store in Bayside, Co. Dublin, creating 25 permanent jobs in the area.

Located at Bayside Square, Co Dublin, the new store is Aldi’s 24th Dublin store and 147th in Ireland.

New Store Design

Featuring Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh layout and design, the new store boasts a large shop floor spanning 1,364m2, wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings.

There are also 153 car park spaces available to customers of Bayside Square, along with ten bicycle rack stands.

Speaking at the store opening, Katarina Domorakova, Aldi Bayside store manager said, “Our new Bayside store is fantastic news for local shoppers."

"The spacious design means it is easier for customers to pick up what they need, and our aim is to ensure the very best customer shopping experience," she added.

 Aldi’s Investment in County Dublin

To date, Aldi has made a capital investment of over €167 million in Dublin. Aldi currently employs 656 full-time staff across the county and said it is seeking to recruit 278 new employees for its Dublin stores this year, including 146 permanent positions.

 Community Support

Aldi’s existing stores across Dublin have donated over 260,000 meals to local charities through FoodCloud, saving the charities more than €329,000.

The company said that each store is also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with DSPCA, National Rehabilitation Hospital and Sonas some of the many local charities that have availed of the €500 bursary grant in recent years.

Supplier Support

The discount retailer supports a variety of food and drink producers across Dublin and spent €145 million with its Dublin producers in 2020.

Aldi said it is committed to growing its Irish supply base and increasing the number of locally produced Irish products available at its stores. Aldi currently partners with 75 food and drink producers across county Dublin.

Aldi has invested more than €3,000,000 in its Grow with Aldi supplier development programme since 2018, which offers up-and-coming artisan Irish food and drink producers the chance to have their products listed in Aldi’s 147 stores.
